History and OverviewThe Toyota Land Cruiser Association (TLCA) is a 4 wheel drive organization open to all Toyota 4 wheel drive vehicles (except sedan types). This includes all models of Land Cruisers, 4Runners, and 4x4 trucks. Over the past 25 years, the Toyota Land Cruiser Association has grown from a handful of people to a vibrant organization of more than 4,000 members world-wide who champion the history and tradition of the Land Cruiser and other Toyota 4WD vehicles. The Toyota Land Cruiser Association is family-oriented, promotes responsible off-highway travel, and advocates environmentally-conscious multiple use of public lands. We are always looking for enthusiastic new members. 1976-currentIn the 1970's, Bob "Snake Eyes" Garret envisioned a national (U.S.A.) 4 wheel drive organization devoted to the Toyota LandCruiser. In 1976, Bob's vision "took root" with the formation of the founding chapter of the Toyota Land Cruiser Association ... Toyota Land Cruiser Association Ventura County. TLCA's growth was initially slow, with new chapters based almost exclusively in California, U.S.A.. Knowledge of TLCA spread primarily by word of mouth, TLCA events and a published newsletter Toyota Trails. Since then TLCA events have spread and are held annually throughout the US. Toyota Trails has developed into one of the finest 4 wheel drive publications anywhere. The year 2001 marked TLCA's celebration of its 25th anniversary. It is a tribute to its dedicated members and the hundreds of volunteer leaders who have nurtured the association over the years to what it is today. |
